Jarlath Mulholland

MMus - Royal Irish Academy of Music

Jarlath Mulholland is a versatile multi-instrumentalist specialising in clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone and keyboards.

Originally from Ireland, Jarlath holds a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. He studied with former principal clarinettist and associate principal clarinettist of the RTÉ National Symphony of Ireland, John Finucane and Dr. Paul Roe. He also studied saxophone with internationally acclaimed saxophonist, composer and musical director, Kenneth Edge (original Riverdance tour / The Pirate Queen, Broadway).

As a woodwind doubler (flute, clarinet and saxophone) and keyboardist, Jarlath has over 20 years professional experience performing in pit orchestras, classical orchestras, symphonic wind bands, jazz ensembles, chamber ensembles and a wide variety of Irish pop / corporate function bands. He has toured extensively in Europe and is no stranger to the big stage, having performed in all major venues and theatres throughout Ireland. As a live performer and studio session musician, Jarlath has collaborated and recorded with artists of both national and international acclaim and is in demand as a musical arranger.

In between his busy gigging schedule, he also takes a lot of pride in his role as a music educator and has worked as a woodwind tutor with two of Ireland’s most prestigious music organisations, the Education Authority of Northern Ireland and the Royal Irish Academy of Music. He also has a large client base of private international clarinet and saxophone students.

Most recently, Jarlath has been busy in the corporate band scene in Ireland. For 13 years he managaed and played in his own corporate function band and has acted as MD for numerous events. In 2020 he was successful in a clarinet audition to perform with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and in early 2021 received a prestigious grant from the Northern Ireland Arts Council to purchase new instruments to further aid in his career.

Now relocated to London to further his career, Jarlath is on an exciting new musical journey and looking forward to collaborating and making new friends in the world of music.
